UCLA Dining Services has committed to procuring at least 20% of its food sustainably during the 2020 calendar year, with a focus on local milk and fruits, organic produce and cage-free, humanely raised eggs. To that end, it launched a pilot during fall 2019 dubbed the Impossible Foodprint Project at its popular quick-service restaurant, Rendezvous West. As part of that initiative, Dining Services is teaming with campus researchers to provide data on the “foodprint” of its menu options. The foodservice program also hosts quarterly food waste audits at its dining halls.
