Fairfax County nutrition services has developed and fostered a successful partnership with schools and local food banks, one that helps provide leftovers from student lunches (both purchased on-premise and brought from home) to local food banks. To ensure food donations from those leftovers are safe and healthy, the district provides guidelines to assist schools with implementation.
