Texas school district hires culinary trainer, chef

Longview Independent School District has hired Chardee Snoddy as its new culinary trainer and chef.

In her new role, Snoddy will visit two of the Texas district’s 12 schools daily, checking in on breakfast and lunch and seeing how cafeteria workers prepared the food. Snoddy says her goal is to ultimately make the cafeterias more welcoming and friendly while making food more healthful for students.

"I was brought in to help teach the other cafeteria ladies techniques and different ways in order to help enhance the flavors of the food," Snoddy said in a statement. "I want to change the image and what people think of what a cafeteria lady is. I don't believe there is such a thing as a true cafeteria lady anymore."
