Faculty and staff at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich., are volunteering in campus dining halls to help the dining team with staffing shortages, Lansing State Journal reports.

After the dining team put out a request for volunteers last month, over 50 faculty and staff members have stepped in to help serve meals to students.

The dining team typically employs around 4,000 student workers during a normal year. This year, however, only 1,800 students are working in the dining halls.
