Chartwells Higher Ed has announced the latest in its series of Joy-Ful events designed to foster community amid the social disruption of the pandemic.

For its third such event, dubbed Delight-Ful, the 300 higher-ed campuses where Chartwells runs dining services will aim to perform half a million random acts of kindness in total.

Campuses will have surprise menus, giveaways, pop-up coffee bars and more. At Stetson University in Florida, balloons containing supportive notes and meal tickets will drop every hour.

"We strive to give students the opportunity to help, surprise, and delight one another, both inside and outside of our dining halls, so we wanted to create an event centered around random acts of kindness," Lisa McEuen, CEO of Chartwells Higher Ed, said in a statement.

Celebrity chef Jet Tila will serve as emcee of the event, which takes place on National Random Acts of Kindness Day, Feb. 17.
