Students at Belmont University in Nashville are enjoying food from local restaurants on campus as part of a new initiative launched by the school’s foodservice provider, Sodexo.

Named Familiar Faces Behind the Food, the initiative brings restaurants and other food-focused businesses from the community to campus dining halls in the form of pop-ups. Sodexo officials say the aim of the program is to connect students with university alumni and local businesses.

The initiative officially launched earlier this month. The first four pop-up events include dishes from Rolled 4 Ever Ice Cream, Tennessee Rebel BBQ, Smokin Buttz BBQ and NoBaked Cookie Dough.

“We wanted to gather the best of Belmont and its surrounding communities using the power of full-flavored, locally sourced food,” said Chuck Couture, resident district manager for Sodexo Belmont Culinary Group, in a statement. “What better way to spotlight Belmont alumni and support Nashville’s entrepreneurs than by bringing them together in our resident dining halls where they can provide fresh, flavorful dishes to Belmont’s diners?”

The school will continue to host additional events as part of the initiative during the upcoming spring semester.
