Ohio jail accepts proposals from Aramark for food services

ELYRIA, Ohio — Lorain County Commissioners voted Jan. 28 to accept a proposal from Aramark Corrections Service Inc. for inmate food services at the Lorain County Jail.

Despite recent bad publicity about the company’s food delivery services in state facilities, Commissioner Matt Lundy said in his conversations with Aramark and the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office, that the county and the Sheriff’s Office has overall kept a good partnership and working relationship with Aramark.

The proposal approved by commissioners calls for meals to be supplied to inmates at a taxpayer rate between $1.20 and just under 98 ½ cents, depending on the population of the jail in a 30-day period.
