Ind. hospital rolls out room service

Seeing meal ordering and delivery as touchpoints to connect with patients, IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital recently rolled out a new room service option, allowing patients to choose from dozens of items for breakfast, lunch and dessert, reports nwitimes.com.

The service features “floor ambassadors” who take patients’ orders by iPad. The iPads also contain patient charts, allowing ambassadors to ensure patient meals align with their recommended diets.

“They actually take the orders from the patients who need help, and they deliver all the trays to all the patients in their zone,” Diane Pursley, nutrition services manager at IU Health, told the website. “They kind of develop a relationship with those patients, where before it would be a different tray-passer every day.”
