Alaska district expands free breakfast program to all elementary schools

After seeing success with pilot programs at two elementary schools and one high school, Juneau School District will offer free breakfast at all of its elementary schools starting this fall, reports juneaempire.com.

The program, which is made possible through community grants, will be expanded for one year, and officials say they hope to eventually bring it to all schools in the district.

“We have a variety of items, from yogurt parfaits and cold cereal to scrambled eggs and breakfast burritos,” Adrianne Schwartz, the district’s food service supervisor, told the website. "Every day there are a variety of fruits and two types of milk offered.”
