Fast casual concept signs with contractors

Tossed, the Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based salad and sandwich concept, has entered into agreements with the nation’s two largest food management companies to install the concept in contract accounts.

Tossed units were opened recently by Chartwells, a division of Compass Group, at the University of Miami; and by Aramark’s LifeWorks division at Fidelity Investments in Boston.

Tossed is a fast casual concept that originated in New York. It offers made-to-order salads, gourmet wraps, grilled panini, artisanal sandwiches and hot soups featuring more than 50 fresh ingredients and housemade dressings.

At Fidelity, the concept was installed in Café 245, the employee dining area. “Tossed was able to retrofit an existing structure with the combined use of their unit at One Post Office Square as a commissary, and collaborative use of some onsite central kitchen areas,” said Richard Largaespada, director of operations for Tossed, in a news release.

At the University of Miami, Tossed opened its new stand-alone prototype design in Whitten University Center. “The Tossed concept space was designed to merge and balance the [university’s] operational requirements with a sleek and modern Miami-styled palette,” says Chris Collins, a principal at Nvironment, the Columbus, Ohio, architectural firm that designed the space. “All materials used to create this new look were chosen for their function and sustainability in unison with responsible environmental stewardship.”
