All staff members working in a Denver school or healthcare facility must be vaccinated by the end of September, according to a new public health requirement announced by Denver Mayor Michael Hancock.

The public health order applies to staff working in public and private K-12 schools, colleges and universities, hospitals and other healthcare facilities within the city limits, though "reasonable accommodations" will be allowed for workers with medical or religious exemptions.

All city employees will also be required to get the shots, as will additional types of private-sector workers in high-risk settings.

Employees will need to be fully vaccinated by Sept. 30, with their final vaccine dose received by Sept. 15.
