Northeastern dining workers vote in favor of strike

Dining hall employees at Northeastern University in Boston have voted to strike if a contract agreement isn’t reached in the next few days, The Boston Globe reports.

Over 300 dining hall workers who are part of Unite Here Local 26 voted for a strike if a negotiation isn’t met with Chartwells, the school’s foodservice vendor, by Oct. 10. The strike would begin the following day.

The workers are requesting a minimum annual income of $35,000 for full-time work, as well as affordable healthcare. Negotiations have been ongoing since April.
