With staffing a continued source of stress for foodservice operators, here are two ways major chain restaurants are seeking to keep employees engaged.

Meeting with mentors

Staff members at Dunkin’ Donuts participate in weekly mentorship meetings where younger employees can ask their senior peers questions as well as bring up problems and get advice.

Figuring out finances

The KFC Foundation, a nonprofit funded by the chicken chain’s franchisees, launched a personal finance program called MyChange. It allows employees at participating locations to receive training in finance skills, such as budgeting and working with financial advisers.
