Michigan school district invites public to school lunch trade show

Dexter Community School District's visitors will be able to taste food and provide feedback.

DEXTER, Mich.—Whether it's the Dexter Farm to School program or one of the many vendors of healthy food items that supply the Dexter Community School district's lunch program, Food and Nutrition program staff want the public to come see what they're doing to provide healthier lunches for the community's students.

Food & Nutrition Director Sara Simmerman is opening Mill Creek Middle School to parents and parent-accompanied students Thursday, March 20 from 6-9 p.m. to learn about program offerings in person with their eyes, ears and mouths.

"If your student does eat school lunch, we'd like your input on what you'd like to see," Simmerman said of what she hopes to gain from the event.
