With myriad ingredient combinations, the different ways to menu sandwiches are seemingly endless. Here’s a sampling of what operators are currently offering.
1. Signature offerings
At Fairfax County Public Schools in Falls Church, Va., faculty and staff can select from a signature menu line of salads and sandwiches offered through the district’s nutrition services. One of the sandwiches on the menu is a chicken po’boy made from seasoned grilled chicken, sliced cheddar cheese, red leaf lettuce, tomato and red onion, topped with creamy chipotle mayo on a French roll.
4. Waffle sandwich
Chicago Waffles, a breakfast restaurant in Chicago, swaps out bread for waffles in its take on a classic breakfast sandwich. The dish sandwiches two eggs, bacon or turkey bacon and American cheese between two mini waffles, and is served with seasonal fruit on the side.
