We offered a prescription produce program for our diabetic patients. We had physicians work with us to develop the program, and they referred patients who they felt showed a high willingness to improve their diabetes. Patients attended a weekly class for 16 weeks that was on-site in the cafe lounge in our fitness center. Each week we had a dietitian or physician provide nutrition education about how to better manage diabetes, and we had one of our chefs provide a cooking demonstration using produce from our farm. Participants were also able to receive free produce from our farm stand.
