Online ordering speeds up lines at U. of Maryland

New system is offered at Adele's, a popular campus restaurant.

April 25—To fight lines that wrap around the first floor of its student union, Dining Services at the University of Maryland, in College Park, is now offering online ordering for the location.

Patrons can now order carryout items between 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. through the restaurant’s website, which Assistant Director Bart Hipple said should help cut down on wait times for carryout orders. A few years ago, Adele’s launched a “hallway-to-go” menu of carryout items for patrons who craved Adele’s on the go, said Joe Mullineaux, senior associate director, but the system wasn't user-friendly. The new option of ordering online will help make the carryout products more convenient, officials said. Now, a few weeks after starting up the new system, the restaurant is taking about 20 to 30 online orders a day, said Adele’s chef Ivory Kornegay.
