May 24—Officials from the University of California Cooperative Extension are in the process of selecting five schools in Shasta County to pilot a program that will educate students on nutrition and exercise, and allow experts to study how to motivate kids to choose healthier habits.
The two-year program, which gets into gear in the fall, also will focus on five Butte County schools, said Pat Crawford, the nutritionist at the extension and a professor at UC Berkeley.
