Conn. high school tries out dinner service

Dinner serves students after extracurricular activities.

Sept. 24—Windham (Conn.) High School has been serving dinner since Sept. 4, and just weeks into the program the cafeteria has been serving meals numbering in the high 40s to low 50s every night, said Ernie Koschmieder, director of food services.

“I think it’s a great response this early,” Koschmieder said. “We haven’t even seen the start of many of the extracurriculars. Those will come online in a few weeks.”

The meal is free to students and features a completely different menu than lunch. Shepherd’s pie, Italian breadsticks and fresh pears were offered one night last week as the cheerleaders arrived.
