Jan. 28—The Westlake City (Ohio) Schools' food service department has worked hard to dispel the notion that school meals are unhealthy and the work has paid off with national recognition.
Westlake became the 14th school district in the country to have its school menus certified by the Cleveland Clinic's Center for Human Nutrition, whose guidelines for school menus meet and exceed those set by the USDA for school lunch programs. This certification recognizes Westlake Schools' commitment to provide healthy meal choices for students.
