University of Georgia dining hall set to open fall 2014

Students can expect an open and fully operational Bolton Dining Commons on the first day of Fall 2014 classes for the University of Georgia.

Smitha Haneef will lead campus dining staff and facilities.

Saying it will “transform overnight the way we provide a vital service to our campus,” University of Kentucky President Eli Capilouto said the university is moving forward with a 15-year, nearly $250 million contract with Aramark to provide dining services for UK.

Union Drive Community Center will soon decide on what food will be served in the renovated dining hall based on which equipment needs to be replaced.

These are anonymous notes that the students write me on napkins and post to bulletin boards in the dining halls, and I respond to them twice a week. The notes run the gamut from “I want a new salad dressing” all the way to a request for mood lighting in the dining hall.

Café de Novo has been announced as the replacement vendor for the space that will be left vacant by the soon-to-depart Law Refectory Café.

As part of our ongoing Signature Series, we asked operators to share their unique seafood recipes, including shrimp, flounder and bass.

Stillings Hall at the University of New Hampshire honored soccer’s World Cup 2014, which was held this month in Brazil, by featuring a dish at a dinner event from each of the 32 nations that participated in the tournament.

The Oaks Dining Hall is offering Green Roof tours at the University to continue to promote an environment-friendly campus.
