KFC to add delivery in some markets

KFC plans to start delivering buckets of chicken in Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area and Orange County, Calif.

Other markets will follow in coming months, the chain said.

Transportation of the meals will be offered through DoorDash, one of the new app-based delivery services. Customers will reportedly be charged a fee of  $4.99 to $6.99, depending on the location and what’s delivered. The prices paid for some items may be higher than the charges levied in restaurants, according to the report.

KFC is the latest addition to a fast-growing list of chains that are adding delivery service. Other recent converts include Starbucks, Chipotle, McDonald’s, Dunkin’ Donuts and Taco Bell, a sister concept to KFC.
