NACUFS names 2023 award recipients

Grand prize winners of the association’s Loyal E. Horton, nutrition and sustainability awards will be revealed in July.

The National Association of College & University Food Services (NACUFS) has named the winners of its 2023 Loyal E. Horton, nutrition and sustainability awards.

Grand prize winners of these awards will be announced at NACUFS' national conference in Baltimore this July. 

“In honoring recipients of the NACUFS 2023 Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards, Nutrition Awards and Sustainability Awards, we acknowledge the tireless efforts and unwavering dedication of the exceptional individuals and teams who elevate the standard of campus dining across North America,” NACUFS CEO Robert Nelson said in a press release. “Their innovative approaches and unparalleled passion for culinary excellence demonstrate the unequivocal value of campus dining, and the community, health and well-being it fosters among college students.”

This year’s Loyal E. Horton winners, which were chosen in six categories, are:

Gold: Tufts University
Bronze: The University of Alabama

Residential Dining Facility
Gold:Cornell University; University of Richmond
Silver: Stevens Institute of Technology; University of Maryland
Bronze: University of Arizona; Xavier University

Residential Dining: Special Event
Gold:University of North Texas; Texas Tech University
Silver:University of Massachusetts; Hendrix College

Bronze: University of Ottawa, Florida Institute of Technology

Retail Sales: Single Concept/Multiple Concepts/Marketplace
Gold: SUNY at Buffalo, Campus Dining and Shops; University of North Texas
Silver: University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill
Bronze: California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo; Stevens Institute of Technology; Rollins College

Catering: Special Event
Gold:Yale University; University of North Texas; University of Richmond
Silver: Seton Hall University
Bronze: University of Michigan; Pennsylvania State University; United States Naval Academy
