Wa. elementary school cafeteria saves water, energy

Green Lake Elementary’s new cafeteria uses a solar-energy system to preheat water, while another system collects, filters and reuses water for pre-washing dishes—saving the district 200,000 gallons of water a year.

Medical center adds cafe

The new cafe at Mile Bluff Medical Center will offer made-to-order entrée salads, grab-and-go foods, sandwiches and replaces an employee seating area with vending machines.

The university received two 2015 Loyal E. Horton Dining Award grand prizes for its Central Campus Dining at South Quad and Fireside Cafe at Pierpont Commons.

This fall, students at Perrysburg Junior High will have a new cafeteria that looks more like a buffet, complete with their choice of eight entrees.

Beacon Hill at Eastgate’s expansion will feature 10,000 square feet of expanded dining space as well as a new dining option, the Garden Café which will feature garden-fresh dishes.

The new cafeteria measures about 11,000 square feet and will be large enough to handle grades K-12 during lunchtime at Wilton Community School District this fall.

There’s also the challenge of feeding several thousand of the most discerning customers on the planet.

Township High School District 113 has spent over $29 million in renovations, which include a new air-conditioned cafeteria featuring LED lighting.

A larger cafeteria at Eugene Fields Elementary School will allow for more lunch seating’s and fewer shifts, which will now be scheduled during regular lunch hours instead of throughout the day.

The $1 million renovation, funded by foodservice provider Sodexo, is designed to give the space a casual, restaurant-like feel that lends itself to a hangout space as well as a dining area.
