University revamps on-campus eatery with outdoor terrace

After more than a year of construction, Texas State University plans to unveil a revamped version of its Jones Dining Hall that will include an outdoor terrace and additional meeting space for students and staff, reports the university’s student newspaper, The University Star.

The remodeled eatery, set to make its official debut in the fall, is aimed to cultivate community through new spaces for socialization and collaboration.

“The terrace will be a really nice place for students to just hang out,” John Root, the school’s director of auxiliary services, told the University Star. “There’s built-in seating out there and areas for students to put laptops on.”

Staff and faculty at the San Marcos, Texas-based school will be able to use the space for extended periods of time as well, as a separate dining room will be available for them to host meetings and catered dinners.
