When it came to creating a new lunch menu, San Antonio Independent School District officials sought input from those whom the decisions would impact most: students.
Last week Thursday, more than 100 students at the district’s high school sampled possible menu items for next year’s lunch menu—including General Tso’s chicken, whole-grain breakfast burritos and flavored green teas, according to The San Antonio Express-News.
Although the district has students submit feedback whenever a new item is introduced during the year, the event gave cafeteria staff a chance to converse with students about the foods they like and what they would like to see on the menu.
“I think that creates more student participation in the cafeteria program,” Patricia LeClar, SAISD’s senior director of child nutrition, told The Express-News.
