New dining program to bring meat dry-aged on site and more to senior-living residents

The updated program at Deerfield Episcopal Retirement Community aims to provide flexible dining options inspired by the local food scene.

Epicurean meats that are dry-aged on site, expanded plant-based options, destination dining and an in-house marinade and pickling program are coming to the dining program at Deerfield Episcopal Retirement Community in Asheville, N.C.

The program’s refresh is being led by Sodexo, which recently took over dining operations for the community. 

The food management company says it researched the local “foodtopia” in Asheville when designing the new program. 

Alongside the new menu options, residents will find on-site gardens, an emphasis on center of the plate items with the goal to reduce supplement usage, and new engagement activities for diners and their guests. 

“We are proud to announce this exciting new partnership with Deerfield,” Sodexo Vice President of Business Development Daniel Lucey said in a statement. “We enjoyed working with Deerfield’s Senior Team to deliver a customized, comprehensive solution to align with their strategic vision to elevate dining services.”
