Minn. schools use state grants for farm-to-school projects

In an effort to get more produce, fruits and vegetables on school-lunch menus, the state of Minnesota is offering grant money to get things cooking, reports CBS Minnesota.

The state has set aside $500,000 for farm-to-school program grants this year after providing funds for 51 projects over the past four years.

The farm-to-school program at Clearwater Middle School, in the Waconia School District, includes pasta and other menu items made from locally sourced ingredients, plus fresh produce grown in the school garden.
