Activists protest proposed SNAP changes in front of USDA

Anti-hunger groups, parents, students and local activists last week staged a “lunch in” in front of the United States Department of Agriculture to protest the proposed rule change to SNAP eligibility, NPR reports. 

Attendees delivered petitions with 1.5 million signatures asking that the rules not be changed. If the rules were to go into effect, the USDA says that almost 1 million children could lose their automatic eligibility for free school meals.
