Foodservice Director’s sister publication Restaurant Business has released its 2023 Future 50 list, which compiles the top 50 fastest-growing small to medium-sized restaurants using data from research sister, Technomic. Here are five chains on the list that might make a good fit for your next branded concept.

1. Crisp and Green

Founded in 2016, Crisp and Green serves scratch-made salads, grain bowls, smoothies and more. It’s menu has vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free options available. The chain also holds a variety of health-focused events for the community, including yoga classes.

2. Starbird Chicken

In a sea of fried-chicken concepts, Starbird tries to stand out from the crowd through showcasing its commitment to sourcing clean, local ingredients. Each of its sandwiches features antibiotic-free, never frozen chicken that is hand breaded and topped with veggies that are pickled in house. Its menu also includes salads, wings, chicken tenders and a variety of sides.

3. Jeremiah’s Italian Ice

Customers can choose from over 40 different Italian ice flavors at Jeremiah’s. Those looking to indulge can try The Gelati, the chain’s signature treat made with layers of Italian ice and gelato. The concept has over 90 locations, mostly fixed throughout the Southeastern U.S.

4. Everbowl

Everbowl’s menu centers around acai bowls and smoothies filled with “superfood” ingredients, including spirulina and blue majic. Guests looking for a caffeine fix can choose from a handful of coffee roasts that also include ingredients known for their health benefits.

5. Curry Up Now

This fast casual Indian Street food concept has over 15 locations, mostly concentrated in Northern California. Its menu includes burritos, bowls and more. Other than its wings and the tenders on its kids menu, all of its meat is halal.
