N.J. school awarded $10K sustainability grant

West Cape May Elementary was recently awarded a $10,000 grant by the New Jersey Education Association and Sustainable Jersey for Schools.

The funds are intended to help schools that connect sustainability efforts with student leaning through such means as outdoor learning classrooms, an aquaponics system, native habitat gardens and sustainability curriculum, according to capemaycountyherald.com.

West Cape officials say the grants will support their expansion of a school garden, among other things.

[This] grant will allow us to build a winter greenhouse and storage shed on the property in support of the school garden,” Dr. Alfred Savio, Chief School Administrator, told the website.
