The price of meal plans at six state universities in Minnesota will increase nearly 11 percent next school year as student demand for vegan, locally-grown, organic and allergen-free options grows, ktsp.com has learned.
Brian Yolitz, system associate vice chancellor for facilities at Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, told the website the average food plan will increase about $300 this fall, a cost that reflects a “growing complexity of student expectations.”
Along with options that cater to dietary and health preferences, Yolitz added that students would also see an uptick in meal plan options, having 16 to choose from instead of the previous four.
