College students cite 4 ways to get their a la carte dollars

For college-and-university students not on a meal plan, eating on campus can be expensive. Here are four suggestions from Fullerton College students for appealing to the budget-conscious among them.

1. Add a dollar menu

Students suggested adding such a menu at each food station.

2. Offer frequency deals

Providing students with a card after they’ve purchased a meal would be an incentive for them to return if they received something free after multiple purchases.

3. Offer BOGOs

FSDs can offer a two-for-one deal on a specific day at a set time. The target are students who can team up to split the cost of the deal and both thereby both get fed.

4. Hold student raffles

Students might be enticed to eat in the cafeteria if they could win something for their efforts. The drawing prize could be as simple as a free breakfast, lunch or dinner.
