We host many camps over the summer. In the past, parents of children with food allergies have been nervous about sending their kids to summer camp, even though we have an excellent allergen program. This year we have been proactive and partnered with camp directors to provide parents and campers information and assistance to help them manage their food allergies/intolerance. We send the parents the menu for the time their camper is here so they can mark all the allergens. That way the parents have a copy of the menu to go over with the camper. We also send them a copy of the menu identifier card so the student will be familiar with what is posted at the point of sale. We include information about our worry-free fare so they know we have gluten-free products and other allergy-friendly products available.
