David Annis this week received the 2023 Theodore W. Minah Distinguished Service Award, the top honor bestowed by the National Association of College & University Food Services (NACUFS).

Annis, the director of dining services at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, has had a longstanding career in foodservice, most of which has been in higher ed.

He previously served as a foodservice manager at the University of South Dakota and spent three decades at the University of Oklahoma.

“NACUFS is about people,” Annis said while accepting the award, according to a press release. “I have been privileged to work with and be associated with some of the best and brightest in collegiate dining through NACUFS over these many years. I take a little part of each of these people, and they are a part of me now.”

Annis was presented with the Minah award during NACUFS’ 2023 National Conference in Baltimore.

The University of Nebraska at Lincoln offers inclusive options for students with dietary restrictions as well a range of flexible meal plans, which led its program to be selected as FSD’s Foodservice Operation of the Month in February. “Personally, I've always felt that if a student has to leave campus to get something they want, we're probably not doing our job as well as we should,” Annis told FSD at that time.
