SPRINGFIELD, Ill.—With new cook-to-order food stations and furnishings that resemble an upscale restaurant, St. John's Hospital's newly renovated cafeteria — which opens Tuesday morning — is designed to help employees and visitors recharge their emotional batteries.
“It's caring for the caregiver to feed them, nourish them and inspire them so they can return to work or their loved ones with all the strength and energy they need,” said Michael Lucas, the Springfield hospital's director of food and nutrition services.
St. John's spent $2.1 million to completely redo the 9,600-square-foot cafeteria, which hadn't seen any major changes since 1965.
