Penn Medicine’s newest pavilion is set to open next month in Philadelphia, and with it, will bring a variety of new retail and patient dining options to the hospital system.

New retail venues will include Tom Colicchio’s Root & Sprig and local coffee shop Bower Cafe.

The menu for the pavilion’s cafeteria, managed by AVIFoodSystems, will center around the Good Food, Healthy Hospitals Platinum Standard criteria, which requires hospitals to offer a variety of seasonal produce, prioritize unprocessed meat and more.

Patients at the pavilion will be able to customize and order their own meals with the hospital ambassador assigned to their room. Ambassadors will take breakfast, lunch and dinner orders using tablets that connect with the dietary management system to make sure that patients are following specific diets assigned by their doctor.
