Arkansas is expanding free school meal access for students this year.

Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders recently signed SB447 into law, which will provide free meals to students who qualify for reduced-price lunches.

The state is the latest to expand access to free school meals after the expiration of pandemic-era waivers that allowed school nutrition programs throughout the country to feed all students for free.

Louisiana, Connecticut and Virginia also offer free meals to students who qualify for reduced-price ones. In addition, Texas provides free school breakfast to students who meet reduced-price meal requirements.
