Arkansas Department of Agriculture hosts farm-to-school recipe contest

The recipes must feature seasonal fall ingredients and will be judged based on originality, number of fall ingredients used and recipe functionality.

The Arkansas Department of Agriculture is holding its first ever student recipe contest this month in honor of Arkansas farm-to-school month.

Any student attending a K-12 school, early education facility or alternative learning environment is invited to participate.

The recipes must feature seasonal fall ingredients such as apples and beets. Recipes will be evaluated based on originality, number of fall ingredients used and recipe functionality. Participants that incorporate produce from a school garden or a local farmer will also receive bonus points when being judged.

All recipes will have a chance to be featured in a cookbook and the student or group of students behind the winning recipe will get to share their recipe on KATV's Good Morning Arkansas program.
