Online scam targets school lunch accounts

Online letter asked parents to pay "sugar tax" to web-based payment system.

April 8—Residents of at least two local Pa. school districts have been the targets of an email scam asking them to pay a "sugar tax" on their children's online school cafeteria accounts.

Parents of Warwick and Donegal students in recent days were asked to divulge their Social Security and credit card numbers after they made online payments to EZSchoolPay.com, according to officials in those districts.

The company provides electronic accounts for cafeteria purchases for pupils in the two districts, along with Columbia and Cocalico districts and St. Anne Catholic School in Lancaster.
