Sept. 7—Students who forget a napkin or spoon with lunch have to pay a price at Pitt County Schools in Greenville, N.C.
The district's nutrition program charge 5 cents for napkins and forks and 10 cents for cups and plates. Students who buy their lunch at school do not have to pay the additional cost.
School spokesperson Heather Mayo says while schools typically show some leniency, the rules were laid out in 2010 when teachers and students started taking utensils from the cafeteria for classroom parties.
