Levy Restaurants acquires Prom Management Group

Levy Retsaurants will handle food at two of golf's four major events each year, thanks to its latest acquisition.

The Chicago-based sports concessionaire announced today that it has purchased Prom Management Group, a Minneapolis-based firm that handles food and beverage operations for 35 golf events each year including the U.S. Open, Players Championship and the Barclays.

The newly formed Prom Golf will be a subsidiary of Levy Restaurants, maintaining its leadership of CEOs Bill and Tom Given. Prom's wedding and special events catering business will remain a separate entity. A Levy spokeswoman said the company will not immediately take over running concessions at another Prom client, TCF Bank Stadium, the home football stadium of the University of Minnesota.

Prom Golf will dramatically ramp up Levy's involvement in golf catering and make it the largest dining and hospitality partner in golf, according to the company.

Levy, which is owned by British food service giant Compass Group, adds the nearly three dozen new events to a slate that already included the PGA Championship, Ryder Cup, Wells Fargo Championship, Senior PGA Championship and Women's PGA Championship tournaments. The PGA Championship and the U.S. Open are two of golf's four annual major events.
