Emporia State Univ. teams up with The Green Door to reduce waste sent to landfill

The team has recycled almost 11 tons of containers during the past five years.

EMPORIA, Kan.—The Green Door and Emporia State University’s dining services, operated by Sodexo, are working together to recycle and reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills. Over the past five years, ESU dining services has recycled almost 11 tons of containers with the help of the Green Door.

The Green Door, owned by Ben and Jessie Stallings, is best known for the convenient curbside recycling services they offer to a number of residential customers. However, recycling doesn’t need to end when you leave your house.

“A lot of restaurants tell us they don’t have much to recycle,” said Ben Stallings. “But all those cans, jars, boxes and paper really add up.”
