AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn University students and faculty probably didn't notice the changes in their dining rooms this summer, but school officials said today the campus is now "Styrofoam free."
What they really mean is that the campus all university and private vendors have stopped using foam plastic cups and other foam plastic serving items. Styrofoam is the most recognizable brand of foam-plastic serving items.
According to university officials, the Office of Sustainability and Tiger Dining worked through the summer to bring about the shift.
"We want to make dining on campus more sustainable," said Glenn Loughridge, director of Campus Dining.
