Aramark buys group purchaser for $140M

In an effort to boost its purchasing power in healthcare and education, Aramark has acquired group purchaser HPSI for $140 million.

The acquisition, which was finalized earlier this month, was noted by Aramark execs on an earnings call Wednesday. It will give the foodservice vendor “access to industry-leading and complementary supply chain management and technology in the group purchasing space,” Aramark CEO Eric Foss said, noting that HPSI, whose business deals largely with foodservice-related products, has thousands of large healthcare and education clients and makes about $1.4 billion in annual purchases.
