Birdcall uses custom-designed software to guide users through the ordering process, which begins at a kiosk. Within about two to four minutes, customers receive a text notifying them that their order is ready in one of the numbered bays. (TV monitors in the restaurant also display orders waiting for pickup.) The kiosk ordering and cubby pickup system is similar to the Bay Area-concept Eatsa, which provided some inspiration for Birdcall. “They’re the Elon Musk of restaurants,” says Newlin.
