Some of the cafeterias closing at Quinte Health Care hospitals will be replaced with retail foodservices or auxiliary.

Officials sent an email to the staff, announcing that the cafeterias will be closed by March 2016 and that the venues had to be subsidized at a loss of $120,000 annually. The communication also said that no jobs would be lost, reports insidebelleville.com.

Trenton Memorial hospitals and Prince Edward County Memorial, two members of the network, will be replaced with auxiliary cafes that will serve sandwiches and drinks. Also, Compass Group, the foodservice vendor that currently operates the cafeteria of another hospital in the network, Belleville General, will oversee the new retail food location replacing it, according to the website.
