6 ways operators are celebrating National School Breakfast Week

National School Breakfast Week highlights school breakfast programs across the country from March 5-9. Read on to uncover six ways operators are celebrating the event, now in its 28th year.

High school students who grab breakfast throughout the week at Flagler County Public Schools in Bunnell, Fla., will be entered into a raffle to win movie tickets. 

At Southeast Polk School District in Pleasant Hill, Iowa, parents and guardians are invited to join in on the celebration. On certain days throughout the week, elementary schools will invite family members to share $1 breakfast with students and will serve menu items such as eggs on a stick and fruit.

In celebration of National School Breakfast Week and making it halfway through the week, Ritenour School District in St. Louis will be serving a breakfast banana split on Wednesday, March 7, in all of its schools. 

Fairfax County Public Schools in Fairfax, Va., will offer a build-your-own waffle bar at select high schools throughout the district. Students will be able to customize their waffles with different toppings. 

The cafeteria staff at Sterling Middle School in Sterling, Va., are gearing up for National School Breakfast Week by setting up a cafeteria display to show what breakfast menu items will be available during the week. Students who participate in school breakfast all five days will be entered to win prizes.

Students will be able to try globally influenced breakfast options at Lexington County School District One in Lexington, S.C. Each day of the week will feature a different ethnic-inspired dish such as apple strudel and Spanish frittatas.
