Families at Miami-Dade Public Schools in Miami are getting school supplies and fresh produce delivered straight to their homes by self-driving vehicles.

The weekly deliveries are part of an eight-week pilot program in partnership between the local nonprofit The Education Fund and Ford.

The school supplies and fresh produce sourced from the district’s food forests is being delivered to around 50 low-income families whose students are learning remotely due to COVID-19.

While no one is driving the vehicles during the deliveries, there are technicians inside them to step in if anything goes wrong.
