We offer a fruit and vegetable of the day. Having featured produce allows the “popular” items such as apples, bananas, oranges and pears to rotate into the menu cycle with the notion that they will be consumed and not wasted. The Fruit/Vegetable of the Day also encourages staff to highlight items specific to their school and activities in the school. One school may feature a favorite Roasted Turmeric Cauliflower, while another features Try It Tuesday Broccoli. Because menus are crafted several months in advance, this flexibility allows for timely use of great produce opportunities.
